than a big plate of lumpia shanghai and a bowl of sinagang with rice.
More deliciousness
Lumpia shanghai is an amazing little deliciousness of heaven. While to a common person, it may look like a plain old eggroll, but it’s better. Bite sized small rolled up ground pork, with diced garlic, onion and carrots. Some add water chestnut, and salt and pepper of course. Add an egg an mix it up. the key with lumpia is finding the right wrapper. It can’t be the thick ones that bubble in the surface. It must be the thin, paper like rice wrappers. Drop the meat, roll up, cut to small pieces about 2 inches long, and fry it up. Dip with ketchup or duck sauce and eat immediately! They are little snackers, easy to make and so good! It’s probably the one thing I know how to cook (shocker as it’s soo easy) yet I always call my Tita or my mom to double check and ask for rolling tips!

A plate of heaven
I just came home to my parents house and enjoyed some lumpia shanghai. To top it off, I had sinagang on top of rice. Sinagang is a pork dish in a broth, with tomatoes, string beans. The broth is interesting, I have no idea how to describe the taste and usually I’ve seen packets at Filipino stores. But I love it.

Filipino comfort food!
